A bit about me

My name is Jeroen Vermeulen. I was born in the Netherlands and grew up in a large family where an appreciation for art was cultivated.   I immigrated to Canada in 1964 at the age of 18.   Although  I followed in my father’s footsteps in my love for the different mediums and genres of painting, I found my style that best described my interpretation of art and quickly defined me.  To further my knowledge and love of art I attended Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1980.

I have been painting for over 40 years.  The major influence in my early years was my father but as I immigrated to Canada, they became more the American painters from the early 50’s such as Jackson Pollack, Mark Rothko, Jack Shadbolt and the Canadian Gordon Smith.  I have sold my art in the Netherlands,  Canada and and the United States.
